Bernie Brookes is a 34-year retail veteran and at 49 has significant retail experience.
He has been the CEO of Myer Limited since 2 June 2006. Managing the carve out of Myer from Coles Group and the rebuilding of the Myer business under new owners including TPG and The Myer Family
He has significant international experience. He has undertaken roles in India and China and has also been a management Director for the Woolworth's Group being a chief engineer of Woolworth's Project Refresh. His Woolworths experience included a variety of General Management positions in three states in Buying, IT, marketing and Operations.
Bernie's experience includes leading a multi-divisional organisation during significant periods of change and re-engineering. Having worked in three states across all major divisions, he has an excellent grasp of a variety of areas of senior management.
His experience has allowed him to work on government and industry advisory groups and assist in a variety of industry development projects
Ultimately he is motivated by results. With 34 years of experience he brings substantial skills in managing change, organising people and leading teams with a passion for entrepreneurial-ship and empowerment.
